SCUBA Challenge 2015

Summary of Objectives:

During the Challenge, the group will take part in an evidenced-based medical case study designed to further the study of underwater Orthotics and Prosthetics.

Summary of Challenge:

CWVC expects to field a group of 10 Challenge Warriors, with a mix of some experienced divers and a select group of beginners motivated to achieve their basic certification. We are taking applications from lower limb amputees who are agreeable to being involved in the medical case study integral to the program, and possess the maturity needed to work with a small unit of highly motivated teens.

Wounded and injured veterans have an opportunity to acquire their basic SCUBA certification and dive with other experienced vets as a member of the Combat Wounded Veteran Challenge (CWVC). CWVC will participate in cross-mentorship events with SCUBAnaut teens at Mote Marine Research Laboratory in order to assist in an ongoing reef restoration project.

The Combat Wounded Veteran Challenge improves the lives of wounded and injured veterans through rehabilitative high-adventure and therapeutic outdoor challenges while furthering the physiological, biomedical and pathological sciences associated with their injuries.

The mission of SCUBAnauts International is to guide young men and women, ages 12 through 18, along an exciting pathway for personal development by involving them in the marine sciences.
