I was watching TV the other day and had a chance to see the movie “Any Given Sunday” with Al Pacino and Jamie Foxx. It’s a gritty football movie that I really like.

One of my favorite moments in that film centers on the locker room speech Al Pacino gives to the team prior to going out on the field for a pivotal game.

The “Inch By Inch” motivational speech is a great one. Another stellar Pacino performance that captivates. It’s something that athletes can relate to because most remember a certain coach or team moment that required focus.

The team concept is singular in the military. The speech paved the way for thinking about the similarities between the two.

For our warriors the “six inches in front of your face” is really what living is all about. They are willing to fight and die for every inch and sacrifice for the team because they know that when it comes down to it, each member will do the same thing for one another.

Pacino states, “On this team, we fight for that inch. On this team, we tear ourselves, and everyone around us to pieces for that inch. We CLAW with our finger nails for that inch. Cause we know when we add up all those inches that’s going to make the difference between WINNING and LOSING, between LIVING and DYING.”

Our military fights around the globe for that inch.

The CWVC team here stateside is fighting for that inch for our wounded and injured veterans.

Each wounded warrior keeps fighting for that precious inch of normalcy.

Let’s all keep fighting for that inch.
