I am walking across America to bring awareness to the sacrifices of our military veterans, what they face after returning home and to share what Combat Wounded Veteran Challenge does for warriors of all branches.

UPDATE!!!  Gunny is almost at his destination!!  Please check on the Facebook page to keep up with his arrival at Camp Pendleton 27 August.  There will also be a reception at the American Legion in Vista, CA on 26 August at 17:00 to recognize Gunny for his amazing walk across the US.  Details are updated more frequently on the Facebook page.

On March 1, 2015, retired Marine Corps Gunnery Sgt Wesley Roy Brady, Jr., embarked on a cross country trek from the heart. It’s dedicated to his fellow warriors.

As a veteran himself, the concept for the “Walk For Warriors” grew out of his love for the military, families of those that serve and awareness of the difficult challenges faced by returning personnel as they transition from war front to home front.

His walk began in downtown Charlotte, North Carolina with a send-off courtesy of the local Marine Reserve Unit and will wind its way through the roads and highways of Tennessee, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona, before ending at Camp Pendleton in California approximately 6-8 months from when he began.

Roy Brady’s “Walk For Warriors” journey celebrates the heart of every soldier, with recovery as the mission, the objective remains leaving no one behind. Join Roy in honoring our military by contributing to his Challenge Fund at Combat Wounded Veteran Challenge.

Roy’s goal is to raise $35,000 to go towards one of our programs* such as The Adaptive Sailing Boot Camp for Novices in Galveston, Texas or our  SCUBA challenge that takes place to not only advance the work being done on prosthetic limbs, but also works in cooperation with MOTE to rebuild the reefs, including the Memorial Reef started during our 2014 SCUBA Challenge.

About Combat Wounded Veteran Challenge

Mission: To accelerate evidence based research for wounded and injured military veterans by developing practical solutions, treatments and care of amputee, post-traumatic stress and traumatic brain injuries.

Core Values: To Challenge, Research & Inspire

Since 2010, CWVC has worked diligently to assist Post 9/11 Veterans returning home. · Founded by a Veteran, run by Veterans, for the benefit of combat wounded and injured Veterans of all branches, the charity strives to improve the lives of warfighters through rehabilitative high-adventure and therapeutic outdoor challenges.

While on these challenges, the warriors continue giving of themselves by voluntarily conducting case studies associated with their injuries. The information is shared with medical professionals that lead to gains in the fields of traumatic brain injuries, post traumatic stress and limb loss.

Upon returning home, CWVC Challenge Warriors visit VA hospitals to inspire and provide hope to the newly injured. Their selfless efforts motivate other vets to move beyond their perceived limitations and lead successful lives.

The CWVC motto reflects this belief that they are – “Wounded, Not Conquered.”

It is our duty to help these warriors and their families by ensuring they have a better quality of life, while transitioning back into our communities.

No Gift is Too Small
CWVC programs are funded by citizen contributions and private donations. Remarkably, 94 cents of every dollar donated directly supports CWVC warrior programs.
