A group of veterans recently spent a few days in northern Minnesota skiing and braving the freezing cold as part of an effort called the Combat Wounded Veteran Challenge.

The organization pairs injured veterans with high-level excursions and outdoor challenges. It’s also part science, as the trip up north involved research on the effect of the cold on prosthetic limbs.
